About Imaatu

about image

Imaatu (formerly known as Fulani) embodies sex-appeal, elegance and glamour.

The name ‘Imaatu’ originated from the designer’s name, Omatu.
It is the short version of her traditional Igbo name fully spelt ‘Omumatu’ which means 'example'.
Some other Igbo dialects say Imaatu or Ime-atu instead.

A typical Imaatu piece emphasizes the feminine charms, the designer attaches great importance to unique cuts that do not limit the wearability of each piece. Less is more and pay attention to details is Omatu's guiding principle.
Premium fabrics, colorful and patterned are also a signature feature of a Imaatu design.

Launched in 2003, Imaatu rapidly gained exposure.

Represented at international trade shows, celebrities and HNWI were drawn to the up and coming fashion brand.

Omatu, head designer, singer/song-writer, and Sandra who is currently advising as a consultant are the creative minds behind the contemporary brand.
